discovery channel shark week 2010

Stop the presses ! Sit down and watch the latest stories of Shark attacks, survival and incredible facts on Discovery Channel this week starting now.  My children love to watch Shark week.  This year will be even better because we’ll be watching it on an HD TV.

Fun little factoid : Did you know that there are documented cases of Virgin Shark births?  Every once in a while, a female shark can reproduce without any contact from a male, an act known as parthenogenesis. Scientists have only documented a couple of cases of parthenogenesis, but some suspect that just about any female shark can get pregnant on her own in the right circumstances.  And we thought only the Virgin Mary was capable of that.

Tonight don’t miss :

ULTIMATE AIR JAWS
Premiering Sunday, August 1, 9PM e/p
Off the coast of South Africa, massive great white sharks blast from the water, pulling a sneak attack on their seal prey. Shark expert Chris Fallows and filmmaker Jeff Kurr (AIR JAWS, AIR JAWS 2) arrive on the scene to investigate the aerial attacks using state-of-the-art technology including an HD camera that shoots in super slow motion – 2,000 frames per second. This enables the team to slow down a breaching shark from one second of real time to almost a minute, and in so much detail you can literally count every tooth in the shark’s mouth. Fallows and Kurr also employ a submarine and remotely operated helicopter to capture this incredible footage.

If your family loves Shark week as much as we do, you should check out the cool gift items they have in the Discovery Store.  This would be perfect for Christmas present for our teenagers lol . This edible shark Sweatshirt is just $29.99.

If you are a fan of Captain Phil and the Deadliest Catch then you can find those on sale HERE.
