I call it the Prescription Game because I enjoy making money on my Prescriptions ! Here is how you can too :
They expire 3/5/11 , so you have until then to use them.
2. You can either call your local Kmart and ask them to
a.) transfer your current prescription from where ever you are getting it now or
b.) go to your current pharmacy and ask them if they will honor Kmart’s coupon since you get all your prescriptions there.
For instance, I get all my Rx’s filled at CVS. Even though I am refilling a prescription, they take my coupons as competitors because if not , then I’ll just TRANSFER them over to Kmart and they will be happy to take my order and give me a $20 gift card in return.
Be ready to call their bluff if you have to. I have Kmart’s phone number in my cell phone. If I ever have a problem with a cashier at CVS not wanting to take it, then I just pick up my phone and say, “No problem, give me that prescription number and you can put it back on the shelf, and I’ll transfer it to Kmart right now.” $20 is $20 right ? Getting more than one Rx at a time ? Then that is alot of money to leave on the table.
Personally I don’t pay a copay on my drugs because I’ve already met my deductible, but that isn’t always the case, so you may need to weigh the drugs’ cost at Kmart vs. the competitor in your circumstance.
Even if I get a new prescription vs. a refill, I ask the pharmacy to honor the coupon anyway. Well, I sort of ask, well ok, maybe I just put the coupon up on the counter and expect them to use it. Yes, that is what I do. I have figured out that our local CVS gets more than $3000 worth of drugs paid by my insurance company per month, so the least they can give me is $20 to spend in their store right ? After all , I’m not asking them to give me CASH or anything.
I then turn around and save these gift cards to buy things like Milk, eggs, and bread since I never seem to get coupons for those items anyway. Or I will hold onto the gift cards until next year rolls around and I have to meet another deductible. Then I’m all set when January rolls around.
Good luck and remember, the worst they can say is No. And the worst that happens is you transfer your Rx to Kmart and still make the $20 per prescription.
