I have never really suffered from heartburn until this year. Because I had never experienced it before , I almost didn’t know what it was or why I was having it. Strangest thing is that I was JUST eating an apple. Nothing spicy or even FUN! I thought heartburn was just for Mexican food or Beer. (I don’t consume either of those !)
So it got me thinking, “What are trigger foods for heartburn ?” It is surely a feeling I don’t ever want to have again so I
made sure to stock up on Prilosec OTC just in case. Turns out everyone has different trigger foods, but some of the top are :
- alcohol, particularly red wine
- black pepper, garlic, raw onions, and other spicy foods
- chocolate (yes, I’m guilty)
- citrus fruits and products, such as oranges and orange juice
- coffee and caffeinated drinks, including tea and soda (yes, I’m guilty of coffee. BUT NO SODA !)
- peppermint
- tomatoes
Sheesh, apples are no where on this list and for the most part, I only partake in 2 of the 7 ! Not fair. For the most part I am pretty healthy. I’ve never needed home health care or anything like that Thank God !
Luckily, Prilosec OTC has a great deal right now that you and I can be stocked up for the next heartburn episode.
